Holy Hell, Why?

So earlier today I was browsing FFN and blah blah blah looking at my fandoms. I decided to take a nap...which lasted 3 hours, but that's not important. Anyways, when I got back to FFN, and looked at a chapter, the Chapter Navigation Arrow Thingies changed shaped. I was like okay, not too big nor horrifically grrr-worthy. What did make me po'ed, was the giant open TEXT BOX at the bottom where the dear Review button was at. It also has different tabs of like 30 social websites and one for FFN. As nice as it is to have the text box there, must it be OBNOXIOUSLY big? And ugly...

It makes me wonder who's designing the website now, and where such grotesque taste came from.

UGHHH!!~

The clutter looks a little better against a dark background. Maybe. Still waiting for a like/kudos button, though. Or a blogging feature.

No, you weren't being harsh, lol. That was my sad attempt at sarcasm, which failed, of course, but with the upcoming notes feature, I think they're trying to tackle that issue; ffn has become a more interactive site beyond simply posting fics for people who do and don't use other forums or tumblr/ao3/lj/etc.

I don't necessarily see some form of the blogging idea as a bad thing, though, if it's something off to the side, because it would be helpful for some people. At this point, it seems like they're just trying to make the site more accessible, as well as catch up with the times, and I have to admit the only jarring aspect for me is seeing so many seemingly drastic changes at once after years of unchange.

I love how you characterized the people at fanfiction.net.

Why does it seem they never tell us about things until after they happen?

Honestly, I think I'm becoming indifferent to this kind of thing; this day and age, especially since "social media" has taken over, change is the new constant, and it's only expected sites try to incorporate those aspects that a lot people use. I understand, though. Inevitable change is so much easier to accept with a heads-up or something, but, at the end of the day, ffn's a free, awfully convenient service, so what can you do, you know?

Although they may be willing to roll back some changes if there's enough of a response. I noticed the "post comment" button for the review box was changed to "post review", so that could be something? Personally, I'd rather them be more proactive than reactive, too, but it's better than nothing. /reaching
