So earlier today I was browsing FFN and blah blah blah looking at my fandoms. I decided to take a nap...which lasted 3 hours, but that's not important. Anyways, when I got back to FFN, and looked at a chapter, the Chapter Navigation Arrow Thingies changed shaped. I was like okay, not too big nor horrifically grrr-worthy. What did make me po'ed, was the giant open TEXT BOX at the bottom where the dear Review button was at. It also has different tabs of like 30 social websites and one for FFN. As nice as it is to have the text box there, must it be OBNOXIOUSLY big? And ugly...
It makes me wonder who's designing the website now, and where such grotesque taste came from.
UGHHH!!~

Date: 2012-06-28 03:39 pm (UTC)I feel ANs are only justified should something happen and the story will be put on hold/hiatus or that someone won't update cause they're going out. And then they take down the AN and post the chapter when they come back.
But yea, Blogging feature is big huge no-no. While some authors may have good stories. Their attitudes leave much to be desired and I really don't want to hear what's going on in private life. Nor the rants about how life isn't fair blahblahblah. (This is mostly for the teeny authors.)
I mean, if writing on FFN was an escape from real life, why rant about real life crap to your readers in the first place?
I mean no offense...I feel like I'm coming on harsh lol.

At this point, it seems like they're just trying to make the site more accessible, as well as catch up with the times, and I have to admit the only jarring aspect for me is seeing so many seemingly drastic changes at once after years of unchange.

The vibe I get from the FFN staff is "We rule. You don't. It's our website, we'll take your suggestions, but no way in hell will we actually listen to them. We also moderate what we want, when we want. We are the Gods of FFN. Now go complain to Mommy."
>>
That mighta been a bit too far, but I think you get it.
I mean with the blogging feature if they went, "Oh, we're going to add a small blogging feature. It'll be a spot for Authors Notes. That way you don't need to write it in the middle of your story. So don't freak out if you see something new."
Instead it'll be BOOM! Blogging feature. And there message 3 days later, "New blogging feature FTW. You can also share this with your FB/Twitter/Google buds, cause they totally wanna know what you're angsting about on top of whatever fluff/slash/het thing you're reading.."
Umm...not trying to be mean to you...I'm being mean to FFN though xD

I noticed the "post comment" button for the review box was changed to "post review", so that could be something? Personally, I'd rather them be more proactive than reactive, too, but it's better than nothing. /reaching
