Use freaking GOOGLE god dammit! There are other sites, true, they don't have as many stories as at FF.n but there are other option, also for those with an specific fandom preference they can look for sites with stories from that specific fandom http://www.fictionesque.com/, http://archiveofourown.org/media, http://fanfic.vjad.net/stories/
but then, the favorite story, favorite author and story alerts doesn't get transferred through Google noh? At this point, I'm only staying for the convenience of getting update alrets from old ongoing stories. AO3 is wonderful.
Most of those pages are too limited in scope and stories, because people are sheep and always keep flogging to FF.Net no matter how many times it bites us in the butt.
Then stop complaining because a free site that is so big should have been down long ago, keeping up this site must be annoying for the staff, even more with so many people complaining and sayign that they can do the job better than them yet don't do it, you keep coming to the site because you enjoy the stories posted there, they can very well send everything to hell and then you wouldn't have those stories anymore, I for one don't understand why is it that they haven't done it yet
If you don't like our complains, don't read them. The fact it's large and needed doesn't mean we have to tolerate their incompetence with a smile and a nod. That's battered wife syndrome.
Well actually I think there's a huge room to complain... first, I don't think this site is annoying for the staff, if it was the case the site wouldn't exist... either publicity get's them enough money or they live happy lives just because it makes their lives happier. Second, not because a site is free means that a site is crappy... you just have to look at youtube or facebook... when there's more people going to the site they get more money, even if the payment is low, it's convienient if you have lots of people. And third... I'm complaining in a page called ffdotnetrants, if you are not here to rant, WHY ARE YOU HERE???
I wasn't aware complaints are now not allowed, especially considering the name of this comm you are in. Yes, I enjoy the stories, but no, the site I do not enjoy ATM. Especially since I can't enjoy the stories when its down. They haven't done that yet because the whole point of FANFICTION.net is to host FANFICTION. If they 'send everything to hell' no one would go to fanfiction.net anymore. I highly doubt they'll want to close down considering they're the biggest fanfiction-hosting site (AFAIK). And no, we might not have those stories BUT there'll be new ones and authors could upload to other sites. A loss, certainly, but not something that will kill anyone.
I never said I could run a FF site better than they. I simply said it shouldn't be too much to ask that the site actually function for more than two months in a row.
Who do you think you are to tell us to stop complaining? The Fanfiction Police? Just because you're content with their service doesn't mean everybody feels the same way. You're not the Spokesperson Of The Universe, so stfu, stfd. This is FFDOTNETRANTS, not ffdotnetTHEY'RESOAWESOME.
