???

So, what's this "The most requested feature" that "will finally make its debut"?

Also, will we ever have separated categories for Megaman?

I don't know what the most requested feature is, but I can't wait to find out.

It must be the newly improved login feature that never refers you to erroneous error messages and always works.

Or perhaps a glossary under the help feature that quantifies what exactly terms like "a few minute" and "30 minutes" mean in Fanfiction.net speak.

Hopefully adding this new feature won't crash the site for days adding to the suspense...

I'm thinking it will be a record of every signed-in user who visits your fic. This sounds like something the "I have 100 hits and no reviews you meanines!!11!" types would ask for. You know, so they could harrass their readers into reviewing. Or something. :P

It WOULD be interesting to see as an author, but as a reader it's kinda scary, too.

Hope I'm wrong!

Most of the time I'm not logged in, and if they added such a feature, I'd be making sure to log out after I finish in the login area, and never leaving signed reviews unless I actually want and expect a reply.

That WOULD be extremely creepy.

I can just imagine -- "O HAI, READER. U DIDN'T REVIEW."

My head would either visit the desk shortly after, or my fingers would be hitting the "delete ff.n account" shortly after.

It would depend on how creeped I feel that day.

I'm kind of excited to see how useless it'll be.

Maybe it'll be the option for having extra avatars! Or a fanart section! Or fic rating! (i.e. Readers rate it something out of five stars).

I'll be kind of disappointed if it's actually something good. All I really want is an option on the rating filter that includes just T and M-rated fics.

I'm curious as to what people have been requesting. And in enough volume to stir the site's caretakers into action, at that. I never thought that anyone would ever bother asking anything of the Pit, other than to please, please work again, and hey, ban this plagiarist.

A Fan Art section seems likely, there's a big enough demand for it in other places around the net.

The return of the XXX Adult rating? Ha ha, wishful thinking, I know.

It probably will be something silly, like multiple user pics or...I dunno. What does the Pit really need except fewer and shorter outages?

Isn't there Megaman section in game category? Well, most of Pokemon fanfic base on anime and Pokemon Special manga, yet there is only Pokemon section under game category.

lol That was exactly the question I was thinking when I saw that update. It amuses me, it really does.

The new "hot" feature is probably being able to delete sighed in reviews. A bunch of whiners in the forums have been petitioning for this for over a year.

[identity profile] hanfastolfe.livejournal.com 2009-03-27 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
It's actually somewhat handy because people use the signed-in feature to get around deleting anonymous reviews when all they want to do is flame the author. Deserved or not, it's still not-cool, IMO, to prevent an author from being able to get them removed without having to see if the powers that be over at ff.n will do it.

A legitimate use of this might be is if a reviewer posted about an error in the story and it got fixed. The author would want to remove that review to avoid confusion. Or say a chapter is replaced wholesale. As it is now, ff.n prohibits you from reviewing if you've already reviewed, even if the chapter is brand-new material due to an edit/re-write.

Then again, the new feature might be that dreaded username tracking in which case I'm going to have to use separate browsers to read fanfic from now on.

The Transformers fandom got a world sorter, so you can choose to only see fics from a certain continuity while keeping it all in one category. Maybe email them at the character-list email and ask for a Megaman sorter?

Also, I'm hoping it's mods who do their job, but I'm probably fooling myself.
