I got to log in! AND POST

Hello! I just wanted to tell people that I have managed to log into FF.net AND update not only my profile but also my story as well! I though I'd better share the news and tell people how I did it.  FF.net IS really is annoying and I know there's been problems at the site before and it can get really, really, really frustrating but dang it if I can't live without it! It's my drug of choice!

Okay, first to log in: when it took me to that "not in service" page, I just continued to hit the refresh button every time I walked by the computer until it took me to the main page.

Next, I went to my document manager and again tried to upload my new document. This went on for like, three hours.

Deciding to try my profile, I went to the "edit profile page" and after hitting the refresh button a million times again, I was able to bring up the edits function. It was when I hit “Save” that again I was taken to the "Sorry" page. Again hitting the refresh button (this time hitting an additional "resend" button firefox prompted) I was able to successfully save my profile and it was updated.

So I went back to messing around with the document manager upload button until an hour later it finally hit me! If I could save my Profile page... why couldn't I re-save an OLD document with the new material. I decided to test this theory.

Success ~! I was able to save an older document with the new material! Then all I had to do was go to the "my stories" section (again hitting the refresh button a million times) and edit story.

Then all I had to do was upload the older document with the new material in the add chapter selection and there you have it! My chapter was uploaded and I even check my own e-mail to make sure and sure enough there was the "story alert" e-mail telling me it had been a success!

So there you have it! A lot of patience and a determination to see it done! I hope this helps some people! I know I was dancing around the house all giddy when I got it done!

EDIT: On a quick note, one of my fellow writers mentioned she went to the firefox main page and got an addition called "refresh Every" where you can set the page automatically refresh itself from anywhere between 5 seconds to ten minutes. It certainly saves your fingers from cramping!

That is true - and another reason why I didn't want to spend a lot of time trying to get in.

I suspect that when it goes back up, we'll see a flood of excited comments. Still, I'm with you on the periodic (but not excessive) checking.

Refreshing constantly puts more traffic through a server that can't handle it. One of the reasons why the error message pops up. One would think if they were repairing or replacing it, it would be offline.
