Holy Hell, Why?

So earlier today I was browsing FFN and blah blah blah looking at my fandoms. I decided to take a nap...which lasted 3 hours, but that's not important. Anyways, when I got back to FFN, and looked at a chapter, the Chapter Navigation Arrow Thingies changed shaped. I was like okay, not too big nor horrifically grrr-worthy. What did make me po'ed, was the giant open TEXT BOX at the bottom where the dear Review button was at. It also has different tabs of like 30 social websites and one for FFN. As nice as it is to have the text box there, must it be OBNOXIOUSLY big? And ugly...

It makes me wonder who's designing the website now, and where such grotesque taste came from.

I would have to agree. This is why the prof of my web design class told us to get a real life client because it was very difficult.

I wasn't to happy with my web design prof. She basically made us self learn...through reading. I'm not a person who learns through reading, I need visual aid.

And she was kind of backseat designing everyone's website. It would tick me off.

We used Dreamweaver as an aide in our class and our prof posted basic templates for our first assignment. Some thought the class was misleading as written in the course catalog and didn't think they had to do HTML and CSS. It was called Writing for the World Wide Web and now it's called Rhetorical Web Design. (Of course it was an English class.)

I'm surprisingly someone who can learn things through reading.

Actually, that's how I've learnt my HTML, CSS, Javascript, SQL and PHP. lol. Was it crazy hard? You bet your ass it was! I'm still struggling with PHP and Javascript though. -_-

We weren't even allowed to use Dreamweaver. She gave us the HTML Layout and that was it. We had to make our own Style sheet, link everything ourselves and ugh it was sooooo annoying.

EVERYTHING had to be TYPED out. EVERYTHING.

It was the bane of my existence. Thank god I like InDesign. Poster Design and Typography is what I'm into.

As for the learning through reading, she had a website up where she posted the lessons and was like "There. All the notes. Read them."

All HTML had to be done by hand in TextPad/TextEdit.

I think I would be able to survive not using Dreamweaver. However, if it was only the notes from the teacher and not a textbook, then I don't think I would surrive. I would be questioning the instructor all of the time.

Wow, that's like...being handed parts and getting told to build a car. Good for you tackling that.

I would've done better with the car. At least there are physical parts to use. And hopefully an instructor to help. But my Prof really didn't help. I'd ask for help, and she would be like "Be right there," yet she never came. I gave up after 3 weeks of trying to call her attention finding it not worth it.

You might like, PBF (Perry Bible Fellowship - has absolutely nothing to do with religion, btw), and Oglaf (VERY NSFW!) and Wizard School by Minion Comics - a comic that's kind of parodying Harry Potter. XD

It was marked as spam cause you had links in 'em. LJ is weird with them. But I do have them in my inbox and can access the links straight from there. xD
