Again with the advertising...

Okay, pop ups? Annoying. Banner ads? Annoying. The full page ads that pop up and I have to click 'skip this ad'? Annoying, but I can deal.

But today, something very strange happened. I'm happily reading along, enjoying the fic. I click the next chapter button.

The next chapter text comes up bright blue. I'm like 'okay, is my browser spazzing out?', and try to highlight the text, because hey, it might work.

All the text turns bright red, and I'm transported to the Coca-cola website.

At this point I'm thinking: okay, weird popup. I close the new window, to find the the story text has turned purple. I click on the page again, and once again, I'm transported to the Coca-cola website.

Fanfiction.net had turned the entirety of the chapter's text in to a gaint link to the Coca-cola website

I feel that I am fully justified in a resounding round of WTF.

WTF, ff.net. WTF

*blink blink blink*

I ran into that a while ago. Didn't realize the chapter was actually a giant hyperlink. Just asked people in chat if it all looked blue to them, and upon hearing the chorus of 'no's, I backtracked and forwardtracked and behold it was no longer blue.

Ok, THAT'S a new one.
WTF indeed.

Same thing has happened to me twice within the last two days.

Because, y'know, I've always thought that my fic doesn't have enough Coca-cola promotions in it.

I hate those people, and wish that this type of aggressively annoying advertising had never been invented.

I've seen this a few times, and it's probably the most obnoxious type of internet advertising I've seen. Fail.

wow... i can't say i've ever encountered this one.

Well, that's....curious. Never heard of that happening before. WTF indeed.

I've been having a similar problem from time to time; I even ranted about it last month (http://community.livejournal.com/ffdotnetrants/14320.html?nc=1). I was happily reading a fic from one of my favorite authors, clicked the button to the next chapter, and suddenly, I get this ad that takes up the entire page. 'Never got the color stuff, though... But still, it's definitely a huge WTF thing, that's for sure...

That has totally happened to me. I think I just closed out of the browser altogether in nearly uncontrollable anger...

I think that might have happened to me (The text becoming blue and being underlined). But I simply thought it was something screwy with my computer and hit the refresh button. That got rid of it and I have never encountered it since.

Yeah, I've been seeing whole chapters come up as giant hyperlinks. I waved my mouse over it, saw it led to some pop-up ad, then left and came back later and it was okay.

It's still annoying.
