June 4th 2012 -- Notices: •Please note we would like to clarify the content policy we have in place since 2002. FanFiction.Net follows the Fiction Rating system ranging from Fiction K to Fiction M. Although Fiction Ratings goes up to Fiction MA, FanFiction.Net since 2002 has not allowed Fiction MA rated content which can contain adult/explicit content on the site. FanFiction.Net only accepts content in the Fiction K through Fiction M range. Fiction M can contain adult language, themes and suggestions. Detailed descriptions of physical interaction of sexual or violent nature is considered Fiction MA and has not been allowed on the site since 2002.


No word about summaries needing to be rated K, though...


ETA: Yes, I see it in the general rules that you need to consent to before posting a story, but they haven't mentioned it in their latest heads-up.

I heard that they're going to be deleting all the M stories now. Is there any truth to this rumor? Or is it just that they're going to delete M stories that they decide are really MA?

My guess would be rumor. Since if they really wanted to get rid of the M stories, I think they could do it instantly. Something like: delete->all files where->rating = M. (No clue what software they're using, but something like that wouldn't require them to go fandom by fandom and manually delete).

MySQL can do that. MySQL is a database scripting language. There might be other stuff out there, but the most common server architecture uses MySQL. It is very easy to delete things accidentally but also easy to delete things in mass.

I don't know about /all/ the M stories but some people have started to be purged. One of my favourite authors got pulled down, his stuff was most definitely MA-- but it's a little sad to see 80+ stories disappear and user gone entirely. And the author he collaborated with most often lost all of his stories that had an M rating.
