Anonymous Reviewers have truly found a new low.

Is it me or are anonymous reviewers super cocky? Like really, I was reading the reviews to one fanfiction in the YGO 5D's fandom and my god. It's a good story but the writer's going through some shit in her life and people really have no respect. If she's lying or not doesn't matter because every writer I understand hits a stop in their life. Hell I have my stories on a permanent hiatus because I have no inspiration for any of them right now. And said author has apologized profusely.  This is why I don't allow anonymous reviews.

It is truly appalling how "fans" of a story treat an author. Sad thing is, they can't be reported. Really, who calls themselves a fan of something if that's how you treat said thing you're a fan of. Has this ever happened to anyone? I mean I  understand people want updates, but as a fanfiction writer myself, last time I checked, the story doesn't belong to said "fans". A true fan stays with said fanfic to the end. Sorry...I really needed to rant about it.


Edit: Some reviews have been taken down, but now said reviewer is harping on me? o.e Really...what part of "This story is on Permanent Hiatus due to loss of inspiration" does troll person not understand? Do I need to pay a toll to shut this person up? And it's the same person too. You should see the reviews this person put up now. Makes me all nice and pissed inside. =D

I've never had a mess of reviews like that for any story so I don't think it is an everyday anonymous thing o.o To me it sounds more like one person posting again and again than many unnamed flamers...I would just delete them, you can do that with unsigned in reviews still can't you?

This...makes me so angry I can't even express it in words. I mean, seriously! This looks to be the work of one person who has NO LIFE and literally depends on this story to survive. It makes me sick. I feel so sorry for this author. Whoever this anonymous reviewer is, I really hope they learn how to grow up, be mature, and most importantly, learn how to be PATIENT.

UGH. I'm so mad right now, I really want to complain to ff.net and demand they do something. We should be able to report anonymous reviewers, or at least track these people by their IP addresses. Grrr...

I don't really know. I didn't use anonymous reviews since I started writing for this very reason. I mean, like I know people use it to get more reviews and to give those who don't have an account a chance to review, but if it means getting garbage like that and getting my feelings hurt in a serious time then it really isn't worth it. That and you can't track it. And it does look like one person.

This is why I don't like anonymous reviews. If you really want to review a story than make an account. Even if it's for that one story. But it does look like one person or at least the same group of people. FF should do those comment things where they ask for your email or something if you want to do an anonymous review. I think this is one of the reasons why many stories aren't starting to allow anonymous reviews. It's people like that who bring shame to the FF community.

I reread said reviews and it does look like it's all one person targeting her story. I left a review, (ehh the longest one) and I told her to turn off anonymous reviews and delete them. What pisses me off is how one person could do this. Obviously this person has nothing to do but hurt a person in a time of hurting.

I don't think you can delete anonymous reviews anymore. I know you used to be able to, because I did it a few times when someone flipped out that I paired A/C together instead of A/B and thought it would be fun to threaten setting me alight.

Anon reviewers have no fear, and they can be batshit as all hell.

Ugh, I don't like that you can't delete anon reviews anymore. At least, not via the channels it used to be. I don't want to disable them because I get some lovely anon reviews, but if it was a mess the OP was posting about - yeah, I'd turn them off.

Lol. The teenyboppers of 98 had more sense than the teenyboppers of today. The fact that you've been in FF for so long means you know what you like in a story. I've been on FF since like '05 got an account in like '06 or something. I was like 5 in 98...obviously didn't know how to use a computer. And you obviously show respect to other authors.

I was always for accepting anonymous reviewers because well... I love reviews. But I finally got to the point where the jack-asses out there crossed the line.

I am a slash writer. Something I clearly state in any story I write featuring slash by putting "slash" in the story summary AND identifying the pairing in the header. But I STILL get reviews telling me how wrong it is. If you don't like it... why read it?

I had a Twilight drabble that was Jasper/Alice but pre-slash Jasper/Seth. Clearly stated. Still got the review "This story is just wrong. Please delete it!!!"

How about not and you read the summary?

Since when? I've been able to delete anon reviews without any troubles (it's how I dealt with my own trolling jackass reviewer), which is the only reason I allow anon reviews over there.

LOL, that's okay - I don't think I've had to delete a review since the control panel makeover!fail, so it could very well have disappeared :P I just write for pretty obscure fandoms, so disallowing anon reviews would basically be cutting off my nose to spite my face. To me, this is the best of both worlds - you can block signed in users who are annoying you, and you can delete the anonymous jackass troll reviews as soon as you find them. *shrug* It's a small price to pay for actually putting fic where people might find it! :P

Let me tell you something. I had two grandfathers, one grandmother, and a uncle passed away over my years and I don't get that stress. But what I am really really stress is that not only my favorite idol Michael Jackson died, but you still ain't update more chapters. Believe me, how you feel if you let all the readers out there down?

I seriously think this is just one person leaving this shit under different names. Because I've never seen that many reviews, one right after another, displaying such callousness before. I hope this writer just deletes these reviews. That's the beauty of anonymous reviews. You can always chuck them out.

Any time I get nasty reviews, nine times out of ten, it's always an anonymous review. I used to leave them up, but now I've started deleting them whenever I get them. Usually they're for stories that contain unpopular pairings. Even if I leave multiple warnings, people are still stupid enough to read it and tell me how much they don't like it. I've often considered disabling anonymous reviews.
