First of all, I want to tell you that I'm excited! I'm excited because my fandom's so small and a new writer showed up who is kicking butt with his or her writing.
Hallelujah! That's inspiring to those who already write. Makes us want to hit our keyboards and get creative and then take our documents over to Fan Fiction and then upload them so the masses can read them right? So they can like them or hate them, thumbs up or down and there's more stories in the fandom.
Well I tried to do that this afternoon and first of all, just loading document manager was so slow. Then when I tried to upload my chapter from my computer to the FF boiler room through the document manager, it was like really slow internet at first. Wait, wait, wait and then the page starts to change...
But not to tell me that the upload was a success! Off to the next stage of getting it ready for publication. Oh no, it gives me this error message:
Request Timeout
This request takes too long to process, it is timed out by the server. If it should not be timed out, please contact administrator of this web site to increase 'Connection Timeout'.
I tried it a few times, but the same thing. And I wept, well not quite but I was frustrated because I spent a lot of time on my latest angst filled chapter. Noooooo! I thought to myself. Switched to the stepsister site, Fiction Press, same thing b/c even though they're different, they're like joined at the hip.
So I sent emails to the dark void of both sites for "support'" and posted on some FF forum threads and yeah, guess what others have already written on the forum (which works) to share their similar angst at not being able to load documents so it's not just me.
I was able to update my story by using the tried and often true enough work around of saving a draft (something I told our new fandom writer to be sure to do, little did I know...) and doing the copy and paste the new update on top of it then publish it. That did work but it was soooooo slow! I had to say a little prayer.
I guess they'll figure it out and fix it eventually. Because I've got this writing bug thing going and it's got to be expressed!!
This is an amazing journal by the way. If it weren't for this site, I probably would have given up on FF a long time ago so thanks!
