Hey I hope someone else is having this problem...I'm not sure if its fanfiction.net website or my own computer.

When I try to load the homepage of fanfiction.net in both firefox and explorer, a box pops with the title "opening" saying that I'm trying to open an application from the site "fanfiction.net" and I have two choices to open it with a program from my computer or save it the hard drive.

I can load other parts of the website such as fanfiction.net/tv but the homepage link from within the website doesn't load either and I get the same box popping up.

I tried cleaning out my browser but nothing has helped.

Anyone else have this problem before???

Any help is appreciated....Thanks

Like NoScript for Firefox, or if you use Internet Explorer, it's possible to selectively whitelist sites allowed to use Javascript if you mess with the "Trusted Sites" versus "Internet Zone" permissions.

It turns out just recently that for some unknown reason, googleapis.com is now required to be whitelisted by your Javascript blocker to be able to click down to your review history, for example. So if all of a sudden to be able to mouse over "Reviews" and get the "Review History" link, you needed to use a different browser, this is why.

Apologies to all the non-tech people for whom this may make almost no sense - just accept that this is another one of ff.n's weird quirks that makes one roll one's eyes.

PS for the tech folks reading this: Just how (relatively) more insecure is it to whitelist googleapis.com? I didn't need to whitelist cookie permissions for it.
