So, ffnet, just what is wrong with stories written in second person?
I'm experimenting with a Neopets fic seen, effectively, through the eyes of the protagonist, but using the "you" form to give a different sense of perspective. It's a story just like any of my other stories, and no more or less deserving of disapproval than anything else I've written. It wasn't until I'd already started writing that I remembered that, for some reason, second person isn't allowed on ffnet.
No, I will not rewrite my story in first person. If I'd wanted to do that, I'd have written it that way in the first place. Yes, there are other sites where I can get comments on my work, and goodness knows they're less like ghost towns than the Neopets section of yours. But I keep all my Neopets and Digimon writing on ffnet, and it irks me that I won't be able to add this one when it's done.
Seriously. You wouldn't place a ban on "stories written in the present tense", even though it isn't the norm, would you? So how is this any less silly? Was there some infamous ffnet spammer who used the "you" form, before my time, or something? Because if not...
